Discover Finger's Restaurant Rome

If you’re wandering through the Flaminio district and find yourself near Via Francesco Carrara, 15, 00196 Roma RM, Italy, you’ll probably hear locals mention Finger's Restaurant Rome with a knowing smile. I first visited on a warm spring evening after a long day exploring the nearby MAXXI Museum. A Roman friend insisted, saying, You have to try their sushi fusion. He wasn’t exaggerating.

The location feels surprisingly intimate for a capital city like Rome. Tucked into a quiet residential street, the restaurant blends modern Japanese aesthetics with subtle Italian elegance. Soft lighting, clean lines, and attentive service immediately set the tone. It’s the kind of place where the staff remembers your wine preference on your second visit. In fact, during my last dinner there, our server walked us through the tasting menu step by step, explaining the origin of the fish and the inspiration behind each dish.

The menu is where Finger’s truly shines. It’s not just sushi; it’s a carefully curated fusion experience. You’ll find classic sashimi and nigiri, but also inventive rolls layered with Mediterranean ingredients like burrata or Sicilian red prawns. This balance between Japanese precision and Italian creativity reflects a broader culinary trend. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, Italy remains one of Europe’s largest seafood consumers, which helps explain why high-quality fish is such a cornerstone here. At Finger’s, freshness isn’t a buzzword-it’s visible in the texture and taste of every slice.

One standout for me was the tuna tartare served with a delicate citrus dressing. The preparation was meticulous. First, the tuna is hand-cut to maintain its structure; then it’s lightly seasoned to enhance, not mask, its natural flavor. That attention to technique aligns with standards promoted by organizations like the World Health Organization regarding safe raw fish handling. It’s reassuring to know that beyond creativity, there’s strict adherence to hygiene and sourcing protocols.

Their signature rolls are equally impressive. The chef combines traditional Japanese knife skills with Italian ingredients in a way that feels seamless rather than forced. I once watched from the sushi counter as the chef assembled a plate, carefully shaping rice to the exact density needed for balance. This isn’t accidental. In Japanese cuisine, rice texture is considered just as important as the fish itself, and Finger’s respects that philosophy while adding its own Roman twist.

Reviews across major dining platforms consistently highlight the same strengths: elegant presentation, high-quality ingredients, and polished service. Many diners describe it as ideal for special occasions, and I can see why. I celebrated a friend’s birthday there, and the staff surprised us with a beautifully plated dessert, complete with a subtle candle and personalized message. Small gestures like that build trust and loyalty.

Of course, it’s worth noting that this is not a budget sushi bar. Prices reflect the premium ingredients and central Rome location. However, compared to other upscale Japanese restaurants in the city, the value feels justified. You’re paying for craftsmanship, atmosphere, and consistency. Transparency about pricing and menu details also adds to the sense of reliability.

What makes this restaurant stand out isn’t just the food; it’s the experience as a whole. The curated wine list complements the seafood beautifully, featuring Italian whites that pair surprisingly well with sashimi. On one visit, a sommelier recommended a crisp Vermentino that elevated the entire meal. That thoughtful pairing demonstrates a deep understanding of both Japanese and Italian culinary traditions.

If you’re researching the best sushi restaurants in Rome or looking for refined dining near Via Francesco Carrara, this spot deserves serious consideration. Between its inventive menu, professional service, and consistently strong reviews, it delivers more than just a meal. It offers a carefully orchestrated dining experience rooted in quality, creativity, and genuine hospitality.

  • Beautiful experience with friends. We had a nice cocktail before dinner and we were able to invite one of our friends who eats vegan. My favorite dishes were the Ebiten and Saudade do Brazil, because, as I understood, it’s a fusion between Japanese and Brazilian food. I highly recommend it, and the staff is friendly and welcoming.

  • After a couple months in Italy, my husband and I were craving a sushi fix and found Fingers in Rome to be the perfect solution. The location and ambience was excellent, nice music, warm lighting and cozy cushioned booths and tables. We love craft cocktails and my husband enjoyed the lychee martini while I had a gin, green tea, champagne cocktail, both superb. There are very limited saki options, but no worries, as our server helped us find a local white wine that paired beautifully with the fish. We opted for all raw fish and a perfectly dressed sashimi salad. The toro and hamachi were my favs, but the roll with salmon, avocado and jalapeño was also delicious. Overall, a wonderful experience, topping our favorite sushi restaurants in London and Paris.

  • Most of the food that we ordered were really good and fresh. The service also good when the waiters are available, the problem is that you need to seek for them and they are not keeping on eye contact. One of the dishes that we ordered didn’t came out and when I asked them what about it they said that it will be out in 2-3 minutes. It came out after about 20 minutes (and40 minutes from the order)after we finished almost eating everything without any apologies. The cocktails were very good and tasty. Prices are high.

  • Hidden gem in the heart of Italy. We came in by chance before they opened but were welcomed by the staff. Max was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and recommended the tacos to start…they were amazing! The chef, Mark, was happy to come by and make recommendations, all were perfect! I HIGHLY recommend coming to this place and getting away from the traditional Italian food. BY FAR the best meal we have had in France and Italy! Can’t wait to come back!

  • This place is a delightful little surprise! The ambiance is super chill, perfect for a relaxed dinner. The food? Oh man, those American-Italian twists are chef's kiss. Our waiter was a saint, patiently explaining every dish and steering us towards some seriously tasty recommendations. It was a welcome break from the usual heavy Italian fare, though fair warning, your wallet might feel a little lighter afterwards. Portions aren't huge, so maybe order an extra side if you're ravenous. Also, if you're hunting for authentic Japanese, you're in the wrong place, but if you want something fun and fusion, dive right in!

  • Exceptional in every respect. Two weeks dining in Roma and this was the most enjoyable and unique experience. The food was, as expected, excellent at many of the places I dined but Fingers was the top performer. The service was also exceptional and the atmosphere chic yet tame. If you want to enjoy Roma don’t miss Fingers.
